About
Ashley Crawford, better known as Awesum, is a NYC-based painter and textile artist. Her works are symbolic, story-driven, figurative pieces, and creations that focus on self-exploration through her personal experiences with religion, family, and individuality as a black woman raised amongst a medley of cultural norms and eras.
Awesum is also a full time Teaching Artist, and Muralist, collaborating with various non-profits to bring arts education through collaborative projects back to New York City public schools. She's worked with various clientele such as The Brooklyn Nets, Vita Coco, Captain Morgan, while also creating public art installations with local community boards such as the Flatiron District Neighborhood Association(Flatiron NoMad), and the Myrtle Avenue Partnership. She continues her passion for arts advocacy through her free art workshops by hosting her own initiative, Art on the Fly NYC in various NYC communities for residents of all ages and lifestyles.
